We got new felts for the pool tables in the recreation room this fall. I was really happy because now I could invite friends over without embarassment and enjoy playing pool.
Shortly after the felts were replaced we observed that players had badly scuffed the new felt because there was no chalk. We requested chalk and got it. That helped. We also requested tables and chairs so that people wouldn't be tempted to sit on the tables or put their drinks on them. Drink rings appeared on the pool table next to the ping pong table soon after the new felts were put on. There is a sign next to the ping pong table that says No Food or Drink.
I resent the sign. No self-respecting pool room lacks at least a stool to sit on and a place to put your drink while you play. When we play we play for a couple hours, sometimes its hot. I need to drink while I'm playing and I'm not even talking about alcohol. I'm a tea totaler but even my water bottle would leave rings if I put it on the pool table. Its still embarrassing to me to have to bring a guest and have no place for them to sit and watch while other players take turns. We need a place to sit and a place to put our drinks and we need to be allowed to have drinks and food if we choose to bring them. Food and drinks are an appropriate combination with recreation such as ping pong and billiards. Especially ping pong, we can really work up a sweat. My request is that we find a solution either we furnish the pool room ourselves or get the HOA to buy furnishings and we change the no drink no food rule. And instead of another limiting rule posted on a sign we post rec room etiquette in a blog on this site that explains equipment care.

I saw some tall swivel chairs made for seating around a pool table with drink holders built in the arms of the chair. I think we should get some of those.
ReplyDeleteI hope that a comment on a community garden is not out of place here. I don't play basketball, use the sauna, lift weights, or play tennis but I am happy these facilities are available to the owners. I do like to garden and a community garden would be wonderful for, not only me, but for both the minds and the bodies of a wide range of residents. There seems to be plenty of land, and although there would be costs like water, the costs wouldn't seem be significant. I have been told that the Water Committee nixed the idea. If this is true I would like to know why, and at least be able to counter the committe's argument. How do I go about talking to the committe and it's members?
ReplyDeleteThis place has a ridiculous rules and very mean employees .
ReplyDeleteHOA is too expensive
and many staff works here just playing around all day long.
Security is so rude. they will bother you for everything you do .
When your guests comes here and asks something like where is unit 1xxx they say we don't know it like they don't work here. They do not like helping people.
They will behave like they are the bosses here and residents are their slaves .
Condo association does not do anything here either. when you go to office they will behave like they are busy when they do not do anything and when you ask something they will answer you like saying get the hell out of here I don't want to talk to you.
And they will give you ticket for everything.
believe me for everything.
Living here is like if you have a condo you have to live here and we will torture you .
