The editor of The La Mesa Patch has written a story and done some research to find out the latest on what is going on about the aftermath of the fire. Check it out. We hope to be finding out more about the people and what their needs are. If you personally know of any of the people affected by the fire, ask them what things they are needing and we'll post it here on the blog. Of course money is always welcome. Our goal is to rasie 10K (that's only 20 bucks per unit). Take your donation to the office. Then click the I donated! button on the main page whether its an item or cash so we can see our fundraising progress! Thanks!

The following link is an example of a page for a Friend in San Francisco when he lost his home in a fire. I'd like to do something like that for Lake Park but I need photos and a list of things that people need!

You'd be surprised how easy it is to help. Living in a condo there's always things you collect that having no garage it would be better to give away. When Ford and Rachael had a fire, she lost things she needed for her professional massage business... a DVD player with speakers and a vibrating heated massage pad. Just so happened that we had picked one up at a garage sale for 10 bucks. Replacing it new would have cost her a couple hundred. So don't be afraid to ask for what you need, you never know what people have laying around that they aren't even using.

On 10/11/11 our general manager said that the occupants are expected to be back in their homes by Christmas this year. Otherwise, we don't really know anything about the personal side of what happened with the fire. According to the fire department the cause was unknown. We know it happened in a man's condo who was injured and had other complications associated with his treatment for burns. We know he's been released and that he is still recovering.
